Christian Duvall is a well versed piano soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician. As well as being a focused musician, Christian is a well recommended piano teacher in the Seattle Area, and is dedicated to teaching music in any form, to as many people as he can reach.
Christian has sixteen years of private piano instruction, and is currently studying under Dr. Peter Mack at Cornish College of the Arts, where he is completing his Bachelors in Music Performance. He has most recently performed the works of Alexander Scriabin, and W.A. Mozart, as well as works from both Lilli, and Nadia Boulanger. He has performed in recitals yearly since he began taking lessons, and frequently is asked to play weddings, funerals, and social gatherings. Christian recently returned from Vienna, Austria where he studied for six weeks. While there Christian performed Shostakovich’s 5 Pieces for Piano and 2 Violins, Brahms’ Sixteen Waltzes for four hands piano, and accompanied solo soprano for Alexander von Zemlinsky Fensterlein Nachts bist du zu. Christian is active in the chamber ensemble at Cornish, as well as the Gamelan ensemble where he recently performed at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. In addition to classical music, Christian is the co-founder, writer, and keyboardist for his band Peace for Dead Princess. Their first LP is set for release Summer, 2020.
Christian’s love for playing the piano is only matched by his love for teaching music to others. Christian began teaching private piano lessons at the age of fifteen and quickly built a student base of twenty five students which he maintained through high school. During this time Christian gained experience teaching kids ranging from the ages of five to eighteen, as well as adults. Christian also has experience teaching several students with mental disabilities and has been successful in encouraging and instilling a love for the piano and classical music in all of his students. Christian strongly believes that anybody with a love for music and a desire to learn can make music and has never turned down a student, or an opportunity to teach. Christian got the opportunity to expand his reach as a teacher when he was asked to develop curriculum, and teach classes on Ableton and the Ableton Push, through the Seattle public library system for a program titled IdeaX. Christian assisted in creating demos and volunteering his time at public demonstrations for the program. He aspires to grow as a pianist, music theorist, and teacher everyday.
